Ravioli Typeface

A super fun assignment from my Lettering & Type class, taught by Bruce and Nolen from Post Typography. With only using a quarter circle, a square unit, and a 1:2 rectangle unit, and with no overlapping, each of us created a modular typeface. My typeface inevitably became monospaced, and thus some letters were more difficult to tackle than others — my favorites are the E, K, N and Z. It's funny how restrictions can help you realize all the subtleties that you could still achieve in that limitedness. But all in all, I was pretty satisfied after making/revising them, except if I were to really perfect them, I would have to break some rules (in the case of M, T, V, and X...?). What do you think?

볼티모어의 자랑인 포스트 타이포그래피가 MICA에서 가르치는 Lettering & Type 클래스에서 만든 저의 글씨체입니다. 만들고 보니 라비올리를 닮아 "라비올리 타이프"라고 이름지었습니다. 하지만 배트맨이랑 크래커도 닮은 것 같기도 하네요. 4분의 1 원, 1픽셀 정사각형, 1대2 직사각형 모듈만 가지고 (겹치지 않으면서) 만드는 프로젝트 였는데 좀 재미있는 결과물이 나온것 같아 올립니다. 완벽히 다듬으려면 물론 타이트한 규정을 좀 벗어나는 수정을 해야 하겠지만 그래도 E, K, N 이나 Z는 꽤 마음에 듭니다.
